I’m in a cave. My hair is in a knot behind my head, my body covered in nothing but a loincloth. The priests, their masks made of bone both smiling and frowning at once, tie me to the center boulder, laying me flat, a tribute to the White God.

I don’t mind. It was the reason I was kept away from the clan as I grew up. The White God only accepts pure sacrifices. Virgins. Otherwise, he’d use his godly power to kill us all. My family knew this couldn’t happen, so I, the firstborn daughter, was offered to the priests the day I was born.

A gust of wind flows through the cave hours after the priests left, and I am ready.

I accept my fate. It has always been my destiny.

I close my eyes, and when I open them, the White God stands at the foot of the boulder, His magnificence blinding me. His hair flows from His head, straight and silver, unlike the thick, black dreadlocks my clan has. Without eyes, He outstretches His arm, touching my forehead with His virtuous hand.

The last thing I do is smile as the ethereal being takes me.
